The Board of Directors, Management, and Sports Development team at Brothers and Fuller Sports Clubs are on a mission – to make sure our talented youth in the Far North don’t miss out on pursuing their dreams.

At Brothers Leagues Club Cairns, we shoot for the stars and we want to help our community do the same. We have designed and established successful development projects and initiatives throughout our region, and we are committed to continuing to grow our capacity to nurture the future of sport in the Tropical North.

Community Support Policy

Brothers Leagues Club, Cairns was founded to provide both financial and social support to both the senior and junior football clubs.  The Club has grown to include in its long term vision the promotion and encouragement of all sport and the development and maintenance of the best sporting facilities, through the operation of the most successful licensed leagues club in Far North Queensland.

Brothers Leagues Club, Cairns has a proven track record of delivering significant support to the Cairns sporting community, it is also well known as being a responsible corporate citizen providing financial support to many charitable organisations, and at times to individuals in need. It has also been a significant contributor and facilitator in raising financial assistance for disaster relief both in Australia and overseas.

Brothers Leagues Club, Cairns is a ‘not for profit’ community organisation and continues to not only honour its primary objective of the promotion and development of sport in the Cairns community, but also strives to increase its community contributions both in cash, and in kind, every year.

Beneficiaries 2019 – 2020

Established in 1926, Brothers Rugby League Football Club is one of the most successful clubs in the Cairns District Rugby League competition. Brothers has a storied history since its inception in 1926 to claim 23 A Grade premierships and currently fields sides in A Grade, Reserve Grade and Under 20’s divisions.

Brothers Junior Rugby League Club was officially formed in the early 1980’s. From fielding seven sides in the club’s inaugural season, the club has grown to field sides in eleven age groups, with many of the younger sides fielding two teams.

Northern Pride Rugby League Football Club are a Cairns-based rugby league club founded in 2007.

The team compete in the Queensland Rugby League State competition and the Intrust Super Cup, representing Far North Queensland.

The club is a development club built around the phrase ‘Born and Bred’, formed to create a regionally based talent development pathway for players, coaches and administrators.

Before the establishment of Northern Pride, the talented players of Far North Queensland were forced to move away from their region to represent southern based state league and national league clubs.

Brothers Rugby Club is well established as one of the leading community sporting clubs in Australia; at the forefront of Rugby innovation and one of the country’s largest clubs, drawing players, supporters and volunteers from all corners of Australia and the world.

Brothers has more than 4,000 members with over half playing Rugby, Women’s Rugby, Rugby 7s, Touch, and in the Modified Rugby Program.

As a sub-branch of RSL Queensland, Edmonton RSL share the same vision and mission as RSL Queensland, to ensure a bright future and enduring legacy for all veterans and their families.

Being a part of the largest ex-service organisation in Queensland, Edmonton RSL work towards providing practical support, assistance, advice and camaraderie to current and former Australian Defence Force members and their families across the Far North Queensland.

Edmonton RSL are guided by the pursuit of the objectives outlined by RSL Queensland.

Edmonton Bowls Club is part of the Edmonton Sports and Social Club. Originally, The Club was an extension of the Edmonton Cricket Club and has since become an independent Bowls Club.

The present Green was laid in 1925 and consists of 6 Rinks. There is a Club House and Bar for members and guests to enjoy.

Edmonton Bowls Club is today in association with and sponsored by Fuller Sports Club and Brothers Leagues Club.

Mulgrave Cricket Club Cairns are associated with Mulgrave Combined Cricket Association, based on the south side of Cairns. With both junior and senior teams, the Club provides a platform for the talented cricket players of Cairns to play and compete across Far North Queensland.

Leprechauns Netball Club was founded in 1979 in Gordonvale. Soon after, Leprechauns joined the newly formed Cairns Netball Association and is only one of two remaining foundation clubs.

The Club’s name and logo were derived from sponsor Brothers Rugby League Football Club. We are proud that this partnership remains 36 years later with Brother’s World of Entertainment.

Initially commencing with a single A Grade team, Leprechauns quickly grew and in 1985 established their first junior teams.

This proved to be the catalyst for the club to prosper by providing the necessary base on which to develop future senior players.

Leprechauns have grown to become the largest and most successful club in the history of Cairns Netball. This year the club will field 180 players across all available junior and senior grades.

Edmonton Storm was formed to provide a senior club for the large number of Edmonton Storm Juniors who continually grow, making it one of the biggest clubs in Cairns.

Edmonton Storm Rugby League was incorporated in 2005 and gained affiliation into the Cairns and District Rugby League competition for the 2006 Season. Over time Edmonton Storm have been able to field teams each week in the competition and have proven to the CDRL that the club has become a strong, integral part of the competition.

Cancer Council Queensland is dedicated to improving quality of life for people living with cancer, through research, patient care, prevention and early detection.

Their employees, volunteers, and supporters are at the heart of their work – driving the CCQ vision for a cancer-free future.

Cancer Council Qld were established in 1961 as the Queensland Cancer Fund, in response to an increasing need for cancer-related services across the state.

Today, they employ about 200 employees statewide and have more than 1300 registered volunteers. Thousands of Queenslanders donate and volunteer each day, helping to improve cancer control. CCQ have nine offices statewide and operate six accommodation lodges providing regional cancer patients with a home-away-from-home when they access lifesaving treatment services in Queensland’s major cities.

Cancer Council Queensland are a member of Cancer Council Australia and work in global affiliation with the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).

The Cairns District Rugby League was formed on 5 August 1918 and is the administrative body for the game of rugby league football in Cairns, Queensland.

The CDRL runs senior, junior and women’s club competitions and has its headquarters at Barlow Park.

The Cairns Rovers Cricket Club Inc. are one of the oldest continuing cricket clubs in Queensland, having been established in Cairns in 1895.

The Club have a rich history of competing in multiple premierships and proudly representing the cricket community of Cairns.

South Cairns Gymnastics is a community based, non-profit organisation that is managed by the services of Gymsports FNQ. The SCG committee works in conjunction with GymSports FNQ staff to provide a range of gymnastics programs, which begins with Kindergym for gymnasts who are as young as two years, through to catering for variety of recreational enjoyment classes for both boys and girls of all ages and offers a non-competitive levels program, competitive Artistic Gymnastics, and Ninja Programs.

The Club is community focused, promoting a ‘whole club’ culture. They host, both in-house and off site, several social events through-out the year. Movie nights, Game nights, Tumble in the Tropics display, Halloween Invitational, Christmas Pool Party are an annual part of the SCG calendar.

Kevin Mayo is the founder of Marlin Coast Boxing Club as well as a boxing promoter and trainer.

Founded in Cairns, Marlin Coast Boxing Club has been developed with the dedication of Kevin Mayo to the youth of the local area.

St Monica’s College are an all-girls Catholic school in Cairns. Established in 1980, the college base their values around their first founder from 1827, responding to the needs of the poor and uneducated, with devotion to the needs of disadvantaged, young women and providing transformative education and offer hope.

As part of this rich history, St Monica’s College was established to use education as a powerful tool to expand opportunities and reshape lives. As both a primary school and a coeducational school in the early years, over time it emerged as a secondary college transforming young girls into caring, competent women willing to contribute more fully to their community.

In contemporary times, St Monica’s College maintains this charism and uses it to both preserve our past and give us a vision for the future.

The MaraWay is a not-for-profit organisation in Cairns set out to tackle tough issues in their community, by helping to change lives by helping people help themselves.

The community hub are financially independent, allowing them to create and evolve their services based on the needs of the Cairns community.

The MaraWay need support in the form of donations and financial partners as well as advocates, collaborators, professional advice and hands-on support from people who are passionate about shaping the future wellbeing of Cairns.

The Men of League Foundation was established in 2002 due to the pressing need to establish a network that accessed the tight-knit rugby league community’s desire to help their own. The Foundation protects and enhances lives of all man, woman, and child in the League industry, including ex-players, administrators, referees, club volunteers and more.

The Foundation aids with everything from surgery, rehabilitation, equipment and specialist care to well being visits to homes and hospitals to address social isolation and promote mental health.

Men of League boasts a robust membership and a national network of committees that are the engine room of the Foundation.

The volunteer network is supported by a professional, dedicated Sydney head office team, state teams providing advice and service from Brisbane and Sydney locations and a national board.

Cairns Iris & Highland Dancers are an association established in Cairns in 1983. The Dancers compete throughout Queensland and Interstate and are in high demand to entertain at Civic Functions, Corporate Events, St Patrick’s Day celebrations, School Fetes and Nursing Homes.

The Association prides themselves in providing professional tuition to students and aims to develop correct technique, discipline, and performance skills in a caring learning environment where each student’s abilities and strengths are developed individually.
