There is some serious momentum building over at Stan Williams Park. If you’ve been by the grounds lately, you might have noticed a bit of extra hustle and bustle and for good reason. Progress on Stage 2 of our facility upgrade is coming to fruition.
This major milestone for our local sporting community is made possible thanks to the generous funding and support from the Queensland Government. The LNP’s commitment and investment of $6 million dollars into Stage 2 of the Stan Williams Park development complements the $12 million investment by Brothers Cairns that covers the total cost of Stage 1. This ensures that our athletes, families, and fans have a modern, comfortable space to enjoy the sports they love including building new opportunities for female participants, people of all abilities and First Nations peoples.
What’s New in Stage 2?
We aren’t just giving the park a quick facelift; we are building crucial infrastructure to elevate the entire game-day experience and expand our grassroots community programs, which focus on providing equitable access to sport, healthy activity, and education for all. Here is a look at what is currently under construction:
- Brand-New Grandstand
- Brand-New Toilets
- Brand-New Player Changerooms
Building for the Future
These upgrades are about more than just concrete and steel, they are about investing in the future of our local sports leagues, community organisations and schools . By creating a higher-quality venue, Stan Williams Park will be able to host bigger events, support more teams, and bring our community closer together.
We want to extend a massive thank you to Queensland Sport and Racing for partnering with us to make this happen.
We will be sharing more construction milestones and behind-the-scenes looks as the build continues, so keep your eyes peeled. We can’t wait to welcome you all to the upgraded park soon!
