Tim Adams is the founder of Tim Adams Specialty Coffee and a leading figure in Australia’s specialty coffee scene. His journey began as a Navy chef, where he developed a strong work ethic and passion for precision. After leaving the military, Tim transitioned into hospitality, eventually discovering his love for coffee and diving into the world of barista training, roasting, and sourcing. In 2009, he won the Australian Barista Championship, propelling his career forward. Together with his wife, Katie, Tim launched Tim Adams Specialty Coffee in 2010 with a shared vision to build a purpose-driven company. A pivotal origin trip to Honduras in 2015 deepened his commitment to ethical sourcing and sustainability, inspiring long-term relationships with producers and projects like the Chapola Project. Today, Tim and Katie lead a company known for quality, community focus, and innovation, serving exceptional coffee with a meaningful story behind every cup.
After Tims commitment and success with barista competitions he then trained and coached, now Creative Director for the company Tilly Sproule who held the Queensland Barista Champion title from 2016 – 2020 placing in the top 6 in the Australian finals each time. Tilly is still one of the highest ranked female barista’s in the country.
Ethical sourcing isn’t a marketing line, it’s a responsibility. It’s about building long term, transparent relationships with producers. It’s making sure farmers are paid fairly, supported directly, and empowered to grow coffee in a sustainable way, long term. Great coffee should benefit everyone along the supply chain, not just taste good in the cup.
Our staff have been trained up by Tim Adams himself, alongside his friendly team of professionals, and provided with Tim Adams speciality equipment to ensure our coffee’s are consistently produced to best practice and standards moving forward.
