CYSTIC FIBROSIS

What is Cystic Fibrosis?

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the most common life-threatening genetic condition in Australia. CF is also a degenerative condition that affects many of the body’s systems, including the lungs and digestion. Children diagnosed with CF live through daily physiotherapy and medications, among other treatments, just to survive.

Medical advances mean most children now have a life expectancy of 38. While this is fantastic progress, it has brought new health challenges such as CF related diabetes and osteoporosis. Children and adults with CF and their families face considerable financial, practical and emotional challenges of living with a chronic illness.

About Cystic Fibrosis Queensland

We believe every person diagnosed with CF and their families deserve the best possible quality of life, and we are committed to providing the support to make that possible. Last year CFQ provided services to over 850 children and adults living with CF. We receive only 6% government funding, so the support of generous donors is vital to continue our work.

Pedal For Life

Pedal For Life is a 7 day cycling journey through the stunning countryside of Otago, New Zealand. This cycling adventure gives you time to admire the views, explore the historic buildings and taste the freshest local produce and wines. The journey weaves along the Otago Central Railroad – which historically linked Dunedin to the Otago gold mining region. You’ll have the chance to visit quaint shops in enchanting villages, and explore rose covered cottages. You will also help others breathe a little easier simply by taking a ride through New Zealand and straight into the hearts of people living with Cystic Fibrosis. Great Strides Walkathon

Great Strides is an international fundraising event that takes place in hundreds of locations world-wide to aid Cystic Fibrosis Associations.
